Role Reversal

Do you ever wonder, as I do, what would happen if Bush and Clinton had been in each other’s place? Ask yourself the following three questions. Answer yes or no.

Would the people of the right still support the Iraq War and Bush’s actions if he was a Democrat or if Clinton was the President?

Would the Democrats be calling for a pullout from Iraq if Clinton was the President?

Would the Republicans have demanded impeachment if Bush had committed the acts Clinton did?

My answer to each question is, “No!” Everyone I have asked those questions of has responded, “No!” to each. It’s a unanimous vote. If you too answered “no” to those questions, then we are all admitting that Republicans and Democrats are not interested in what is best for the country. We are admitting that they are most interested in what is best for their political party.

Long ago a person wrote a letter to his son that read, “This is not a government of the people by the people, and for the people. Rather it is a government of the party, by the party, and for the party.”

I find that a very sad state of affairs that so many people and politicians have placed the interests of their party ahead of the interests of their country.

On a bright note, Mayor Cedric Glover stated Tuesday that he would not be bound by party lines when it comes to endorsing a candidate for Governor. A tip of the hat to you Mr. Mayor.

I disagree with the results of this informal poll. I can honestly say that if Clinton had started the Iraq war, I along with millions of others who consider themselves Democrats, would not support it. This would be for all the same reasons that we do not support the current President's war.

A fundemental difference between Democrats and Republicans exists. Some would call this difference the Democrats' downfall and the Republicans' strength. There is a far greater capacity for self-criticism amongst Democrats (or liberals, progressives, left leaning people, or whatever label you want to use) than amongst conservatives. Democrats fight amongst themselves more than they do against the Republicans. In contrast, most Republicans march in lock step. There appears to be virtually no capacity for dissent amongst the die-hard supporters of the Bush administration. He can do no wrong and has been, in effect deified. If you don't believe me, do a simple test. The next time you're at any kind of gathering amongst Bush supporters (any gathering of 3 more Shreveporters would likely suffice), simply say something factual that could be construed as negative about Bush or his administration. Anything would do. The $9 trillion debt is one good example. Watch the reaction. You will elicit the same response that would be prompted by declaring that God doesn't exist or that someone's mother has ill repute. Such has seldom ever been the case for a Democratic politician.

As for Role Reversals...

We're facing some very tough choices ahead... we can collectively all watch network sitcom reruns, game shows, idiotic 'reality' programs or else we can heighten our awareness and get involved in the future of the USA we will leave to our children and to our grandchildren... Yes... I will finally be a grandfather come December!
Anyway, a long, long time ago I dragged myself into the fray and hey... it ain't so bad writing letters to and calling Senator Sellout and Kongressman Kickback so as to get laughs while reading their completely ridiculous boiler-plate, generic replies to my direct questions regarding my concerns about where this GREAT NATION is headed.
In fact, I had written the wife of Bectel Corporation's CEO complaining to her that her pathetic husband was bilking billions upon billions of 'taxpayer' dollars from unsuspecting Americans with his company's reckless no-bid 'reconstruction' scam over in Iraq. The wonderful wife, some of us know as California Senator, Dianne Feinstein, sent me a warm and fuzzy letter about the dire need to allow president Bush's guest worker (read illegal alien) agenda to become federal law. Now, what in the world does illegal aliens have to do with her husband sucking billions upon billions from the Lobby Trough in Washington DC?
Am I supposed to glean from her response that her husband's corporation will have something to do with the federal funding of George W's illegal alien 'guest worker' scheme? Or, on the other hand, am I to think that she could give a flyin' crap about what Americans think... and she will do as her masters (not us) require her to do? Should you wonder, I went with the latter...
So, now some friends and yours truly have gotten together to give the federal trolls and trollops a TRUTH ATTACK... and should enough of us bother to sign some pretty neat letters to the whorehouse in Washington DC, which is a lot bigger than the notorious one down in LaGrange Texas we might just have a little fun taking our country back from these shameless scoundrels! Besides the founding principles of this Great Nation and the cost of a 41-cent postage stamp, what do we have to lose for trying? ? ?
Check it all out at www.truthattack.org and do me and yourself just two painless little role reversals. 1. Go to www.truthattack.org SIGN UP & PARTICIPATE and 2. Make sure that everyone you know will hear about this great venture from YOU before this weekend!
Think about this! Today, there are more than 100 million people signed up on the DO NOT CALL list that was originated by a regular guy who was so ticked off by telemarketers calling him during “Dancing With The Stars” he decided to do something... So, in a matter of about three weeks this guy was able to get 40 million people and our BS-for-brains politicians to stop unsolicited telemarketing phone calls faster than the U.S. Supreme Court in essence ruled that it's just dandy for the local (donut eating champion) SWAT Team to (mistakenly) kick in YOUR door (without knocking) and blow your brains out of your head (because you stood up too fast from your 'easy' chair) just as long as their (otherwise illegal) search warrant had your address correctly spelled and it was signed in 'good faith' by a "judge". Hey... didn't that USED to be Amendment IV something or another?
Even though that is absolutely true please keep this in mind... Our struggle to recover our rights is not a LEGAL one... it is a POLITICAL one! That means that WE THE PEOPLE can rise up together and have 100 million Americans writing and calling our pathetic politicians...
Guess what? These elected 'officials' will be forced to ‘sell out’ TO US and not sell US out anymore! Imagine getting a letter from Senator Sellout telling you that they will be honoring their oath of office from now on? Pipe dream? Not hardly, look at the impact Dr. Ron Paul is having on the pack of pandering Republican sock puppets running for President of the United States.
Well... if you think that the nutty right wing party has cookie cutter candidates... just wait until the nutty left wing start their oven, roll the dough and reach for their favorite cookie cutter.
Ok, ok, ok... I know it's dull, trite, boring and no one has time to even stop and consider the massive growth of the federal government and the outrageous federal debt/deficit/borrow and spend politics as policy agenda along with exactly the equal and opposite impact that unfettered rampage has done to our once-unalienable rights.
Actually, should the truth be known… it is way past the time to do something about it... but one thing for sure... if we don't hang together and voice our concerns NOW, surely we'll all hang separately from different trees.

For years I have asked, "Do you consider yourself a Republican, a Democrat or an American?" I've asked that very important question because it was and is so very clear to me that party politics meant that when one political party was the MAJORITY... all bets were off and the chains were on the MINORITY party and its followers... of course, I also realized that when BOTH parties worked together and announced that they had reached a BIPARTISAN agreement, Americans had better grab their wallet AND their butt, too!
By the way, Americans are supposed to be the majority referred to when we say “…the majority rules in the United States of America…” and not some private corporation with a political agenda aiming to eliminate the Constitution because it’s more convenient to do away with rights than have to deal with ‘protesters’ pointing out wanton abuse of power.
Well, anyway... about 20 or 30-something years ago I came across a very interesting idea... like, why not have an American as our president instead of a Republican Party sock puppet or a Democratic Party sock puppet?
It appears that the time has come and that idea is ripe for picking.
Oh... and hell yes....... we better be involved THIS TIME or it might well be the last opportunity to even think we have a voice...

We could get rid of most of the cabinet departments, most of the agencies, and most of the budget. The government would be small, frugal, and limited." Congressman Ron Paul (1998)
